The Malte Collection

"This collection celebrates the tonneau case shape that Vacheron Constantin introduced in 1912, thanks to its efforts to miniaturize movements which allowed designers to break away from the traditional round shape and offer attractive alternatives.

Vacheron Constantin's heritage has featured many tonneau-shaped models, first in the early 20th century, then in the 1930s and 1940s, including a famous Vacheron Constantin watch called the Don Pancho, which was a made-to-measure grand complication. This shape was also present in later creations from the Maison, in particular to celebrate the 240th anniversary of Vacheron Constantin in 1995, with a model featuring complications that prefigured the Malte line, which was presented in 2000 and then redesigned in 2012.

The powerful design that distinguishes the Malte watches gives them an assertive presence on the wrist. The Malte is available in models ranging from the hour and minute indicator to the Tourbillon grand complication, a spectacular movement that fits perfectly into its case. Finally, Malte is available in attractive feminine versions, including the tonneau shape which is particularly popular with women.

I admire the tonneau shape for its originality, and I find that it is perfectly complemented by our Tourbillon movement, which gives it even more strength and personality. I am also particularly impressed by the fact that the movement itself is a tonneau shape, an extra-special touch on this powerful and spectacular model."
