La Quête du Temps
Underlining a deep cultural commitment
Representing a milestone in Vacheron Constantin’s partnership with the Louvre, La Quête du Temps is unveiled as the centrepiece of an eponymous exhibition at the museum in Paris from 17 September to 12 November 2025.
Timeless Dialogues
A masterpiece among marvels
Displayed alongside horological masterpieces from the Louvre’s collection, La Quête du Temps becomes part of a lineage of wonder. From Renaissance astronomical clocks to 18th-century automata, the exhibition traces a history of time, mechanics, and imagination.

A MONUMENTAL SETTING
Installed at the heart of the Louvre
Bringing La Quête du Temps into the Louvre meant more than exhibition, it was a symbolic gesture. Installed with precision in one of the museum’s most iconic halls, the piece now stands among centuries of masterpieces, bridging mechanical innovation and cultural legacy.
La Quête du temps
Olivier Gabet, Director of the Department of Objets d'Art at the Musée du Louvre.
"Echoing the automaton imagined by Vacheron Constantin, the exhibited works from the Louvre collection evoke the extent to which they all represent an ancient, even immemorial, passion for complex mechanisms and more or less scientific machines. While La Quête du Temps evokes the great Cordovan automatons, or Egyptian water clocks, many of its constituent elements bring to mind the armillary clocks or polyhedral dials of the 17th century. Artistic crafts are part of a genealogy that spans the most diverse eras and civilisations".
