Plique-à-Jour Enamel
The caliber’s colored discs are visible through the transparent effect of plique-à-jour enamel with this genuine miniature stained-glass window, and the balloon seems to fly in the air. This previously unprecedented technique for the Maison is one which has been mastered by very few enamelers. It is considered extremely difficult to perform because of the length of time required and unpredictable finish.

The master engravers at the Vacheron Constantin workshops have taken on a real challenge: bringing to life two-dimensional drawings and interpreting their colors through different finishes. The balloon took up to three weeks of work to reproduce all the intricacies and ornamental details of the original sketches. The dials depict real miniature scenes, with an extraordinary variety of motifs.
