USING AN EXCEPTIONAL TIMEPIECE EASILY
A mechanical movement possesses inimitable charm. When it comes to life, it epitomizes outstanding expertise and evokes intense emotion. Now it’s your turn to awaken it through a few basic steps.
THE ART AND SKILL OF WINDING YOUR VACHERON CONSTANTIN
SET YOUR WATCH ON TIME
The perpetual calendar presents a mechanical solution for an astronomical problem. Gears, springs and rockers mimic the rotation of the earth around the sun. The mechanism automatically knows whether the month has 28, 30 or 31 days, as well as calculating leap years. The perpetual calendar only needs correcting at the turn of each century, unless the century is divisible by four hundred.
SET YOUR WATCH ON TIME
Complete calendar watches measure the day of the week, month, and date. Certain models, such as the Fiftysix Complete Calendar, also display moon phases. These timepieces must be manually adjusted five times a year – in February, April, June, September, and November.
Annual calendar watches feature full or partial calendars that automatically account for months with 31 and 30 days. You must adjust these watches only once a year to account for the 28 days in February, except for leap year.
SET YOUR WATCH ON TIME
Moon-phase watches are timepieces indicating the evolution of the lunar cycle (new moon, first quarter, full moon, last quarter). These watches are distinguished by an additional wheel fitted next to their pinion and serving to mark off a cycle lasting 29 days, 12 hours and 45 minutes. They thus generate a discrepancy of just 57 seconds per lunar cycle, meaning less than 2 seconds a day. Manual adjustment of Vacheron Constantin moon-phase watches is thus required only once in every 122 years for high-precision moon-phase displays, and once every three years for simple moon-phase versions.
CARING FOR YOUR STRAP
The strap of your Vacheron Constantin deserves the utmost respect in order to preserve all of its qualities over time.
CARING FOR YOUR METAL BRACELET
A metal strap does not require any particular maintenance; just some occasional light cleaning using a soft brush. This should be carried out more during the summer, when sea salt and grains of sand can lodge themselves between the links. Likewise, we strongly recommend you rinse your bracelet with clean water after swimming in the sea or in a pool.
CARING FOR YOUR LEATHER STRAP
Fine and delicate, leather is a natural material, therefore its beauty and longevity must be preserved. Therefore, we recommend you avoid frequent contact with water, oils, or cosmetics. All of these elements may accelerate the premature wear of your strap. Likewise, excessive perspiration or extended sun exposure may alter the aesthetic uniformity and color of the leather.
THE STRAP BAR: A UNIQUE PERSONALIZATION EXPERIENCE
Whether it’s the color of the leather, the stitching or the color of the side edges, the possibilities are almost endless to make your watch strap entirely unique. Book a tailored appointment at one of our Boutiques.
