MOISTURE PROTECTION

MOISTURE-PROOF TIMEKEEPING

The pleasure of wearing your Vacheron Constantin in any situation should be without any apprehensions. In order to do so, a few essential precautions are necessary in order to preserve its integrity, particularly regarding water resistance.

KNOW YOUR WATCH AND ITS CAPABILITIES

For models designed with a crown and push-piece(s) that can be screwed, the specific water-resistant features only apply when they are firmly screwed down to the case. However, water resistance is not guaranteed in the event that the crown or push-pieces are used underwater. With regard to striking timepieces, such as “minute repeater” models, they are not water resistant by virtue of their design.

KEEP YOUR WATCH MOISTURE RESISTANCE HEALTHY

A watch’s water resistance cannot be guaranteed indefinitely. In fact, water-resistance joints are subject to natural aging and are altered by variations in temperature and contact with certain commonly used products (cosmetics, solvents, fragrances), which modify their original characteristics. Therefore, we recommend you regularly rinse your watch with clean water and dry it with a soft cloth.

SEE CONDENSATION?

If you notice condensation under the glass, we invite you to bring your watch to one of our exclusive Vacheron Constantin Boutiques or an authorized Vacheron Constantin Service Center as soon as possible. Indeed the presence of moisture may affect the watch’s internal components.

EVERYDAY USE

In order to protect the movement’s parts from potential infiltration, it is essential that the crown and push-pieces always be pressed up against the case. Therefore, special attention should be paid in particular after setting the time or watch functions.

ANTIQUE WATCHES & WATER RESISTANCE

Antique timepieces designed to be water resistant, by virtue of their age, natural wear from being worn, and various successive polishes, may have permanently lost certain properties essential to guaranteeing water resistance. If need be, we strongly recommend you have your watch examined by an authorized watchmaker in order to inspect its water resistance.
