At the Origin of the Tourbillon
Patented in 1801, the tourbillon was developed to combat the harmful effects of earth’s gravity on the escapements of pocket watches held in a vertical position. While the arrival of wristwatches makes the tourbillon's role less clear, its creation requires greater expertise. Whatever the position of the watch, it is vital to achieve absolute precision in the rotating escapement.

Featuring a cage in the shape of the Maltese cross, the tourbillon performs one full rotation per minute. Both a technical and aesthetic feat, the tourbillon also fulfills its practical function of indicating the seconds.

PERSONALISE YOUR WATCH WITH A STRAP
Whether it’s the color of the leather, the color of the stitching or the color of the side edges, the possibilities are almost endless to make your watch strap entirely unique. You can also add a design or text to the lining of your watch to make it even more special. The strap bar: a tailored appointment for you to discover in the Vacheron Constantin Boutiques.

A REFINED AESTHETIC
Since 1912, the Manufacture has associated the emblematic curves of the Malte collection with the most prestigious watch mechanisms. Bearing the name of a watch component that has become the Vacheron Constantin emblem, this collection encompasses timepieces featuring harmoniously pleasing lines. The powerful design of the tonneau (barrel) shape sets a perfect stage for technical excellence.
