About this watch

This watch bears the distinctive hallmarks of Vacheron Constantin timepieces produced in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Measuring 31 mm in diameter, perfectly standard at that time, it comes in a yellow gold case with a slim bezel and a refined dial. Vacheron Constantin opted for a delicate Clou de Paris guilloché pattern on this model, which is interrupted only by the small snailed seconds counter and by the simple appliqué hour markers surrounded by a discreet minute counter.

The discreet circular-grained ball crown complements the unusual round shape of the half-drop horns welded to the case middle. First introduced by Vacheron Constantin at the end of the 1930s, this horn shape became a Vacheron Constantin signature and was featured on many of the Manufacture's creations during the decade that followed. The slim case, at just 8 mm thick, with a large-bevel back for improved comfort when worn on the wrist, adds to the piece's overall harmony.

This unique design, which is so dear to Vacheron Constantin, speaks only of elegance.

About the caliber

The hand-wound Caliber 458 boasts a chronometric precision regulator with a thermoregulated beryllium screw balance and a regulator that allows for fine adjustment using an eccentric pin. The large bridge covering the barrel adds to the sturdiness of this instantly recognizable caliber. This timepiece is an example of post-war watchmaking, reliable and precise, but also beginning to show the first signs of aesthetic freedom.
