" Feminine creations through time" is an exhibition reflecting the richness of watchmaking, mirroring different artistic currents, by retracing more than two centuries of creativity in the service of the eternal feminine.
Visionary women
Women became interested in watchmaking at an early stage, often to enhance their apparel with objects that were sometimes unusual yet generally designed as authentic jewellery. Their practical usefulness was nonetheless not neglected, as demonstrated by the many chiming or calendar watches made for women.
An exceptional heritage
Vacheron Constantin’s constant concern for excellence and a definite penchant for artistic crafts has always found a special field of expression in the feminine universe, embodying the Maison’s artistic sensibility for more than two centuries.
Vacheron Constantin's feminine creations have always proved able to adapt to the fashion trends of the moment, to the evolution of women's social status, as well as to their desires and their occasionally extravagant wishes.

Watch in gem-set platinum
While the miniaturisation of pocket watches led to the advent of wristwatches, this infatuation with the infinitely small would be fully expressed through the creation of calibres featuring extreme dimensions. Perfectly suited to horological elegance and the daintiness of finely gem-set timepieces, these movements represent the technical prowess perfectly mastered by Vacheron Constantin, notably with its 8''' calibre.
Surprise" watch in yellow gold, black enamel decoration
The Roaring Twenties also brought a desire for new horizons. Transatlantic liners were the stuff of dreams, along with exotic destinations. As a result, travel watches became inseparable objects, a way of keeping track of time in an entirely discreet way. Vacheron Constantin created this watch in an Art Deco style giving free rein to artistic crafts such as gemsetting, guilloché, engraving and enamelling, as on this 1929 yellow gold timepiece adorned with geometric patterns.
“Secret” watch in yellow gold and lapis lazuli, bezel in white gold set with diamonds
The late 1960s were marked by the emergence of quartz watches, demanding swift responses from watchmakers in terms of mechanical movements to satisfy new customer demands. This “secret” jewellery watch graced with a brilliant-cut diamond-set bezel is clearly one such model. Equipped with ultra-thin calibre 1430 measuring 2.90 mm thick and 12.40 mm in diameter, it flaunts its elegance and originality with a winding crown concealed beneath the case for aesthetic reasons.
The Égérie 2024 creations stemming from the creative collaboration between Vacheron Constantin and "One of Not Many" talent Yiqing Yin are an extension of this tradition.
