July 2010

TIMELAB – Foundation of the Geneva Laboratory of Horology and Microengineering – was officially unveiled in June 2010. The purpose of this centre for certification and Research & Development, which houses two of the most prestigious watch certifications, the Hallmark of Geneva and the Geneva Office of the COSC (Official Swiss Chronometer Testing Institute), is to enhance the status of quality watchmaking by offering watch brands a range of services that meet the highest technical standards. It offers the expertise of a professional and recognised organisation and the creditworthiness of an official and independent laboratory.

Created in 1886 to protect the reputation of the name “Geneva”, the Hallmark of Geneva has always been and still is a guarantee of origin, a guarantee of workmanship, a guarantee of durability and a guarantee of exceptional savoir-faire. It is the symbol of the undisputable watchmaking prestige of Geneva.

Having successfully submitted its first model more than a century ago, Vacheron Constantin is one of the rare companies that have experienced the development of the principal requirements of the Hallmark of Geneva, from the inside and over the course of many decades, making it the historic brand of the Hallmark today.
