OVERSEAS - The spirit of travel by Vacheron Constantin
August 2017

Founded in Geneva in 1755, Vacheron Constantin has always been imbued with the spirit of travel, inherited from one of its founders, François Constantin. Attracted by distant horizons right from its beginnings, the Maison was already present on four continents in the 18th century, and based its expansion on journeys throughout the world and encounters that marked its history.
Inspired by this tradition, the Manufacture constantly adapts its models to the requirements of each market it enters, developing timepieces with sporty lines and conceiving ground-breaking technical innovations.
This approach is demonstrated by the company’s historic archives, and particularly by a series of old ledgers entitled “Encounters” in which it recorded all of its overseas sales. Vacheron Constantin’s reputation has thus been forged through these encounters in ever more distant locations over more than 260 years of uninterrupted history and expertise.
PARTNERSHIP WITH STEVE MCCURRY
Vacheron Constantin has invited the legendary photographer Steve McCurry to share his unique perspective on the world to illustrate the new Overseas collection, whose watches are the embodiment of its spirit of travel. The photojournalist has decided to immortalize 12 exceptional locations, some quite inaccessible, that reflect the fundamental values that have guided Vacheron Constantin for 260 years. Perfectionism, patience, creativity, energy, transmission, openness to the outside world: these are the values that the Overseas Tour seeks to perpetuate.
