Dismantling
The second stage of verification relates to the watch movement. The latter is removed from the case and the hands are driven out from the dial in order to take the watch apart.
Each screw, each wheel, the oscillating weight, the pinions, the lever, the bridges, as well as all parts of the movement – most of them meticulously decorated, polished, bevelled and engraved – are carefully dismantled with extreme caution.
Up to several hundred different parts are thus manually verified in order to detect the slightest sign of wear or impaired operation.
