October 2011 - VACHERON CONSTANTIN celebrates “A Journey into the time of MAHARAJAS”September 2011 to March 2012 - Vacheron Constantin is celebrating its association with princely India with an exclusive exhibition of rare photographs of Indian royalty, in collaboration with Tasveer, an organization dedicated towards showcasing some of the finest photographs from around the world and the leading photography gallery in India. The exhibition of portrait photographs, “A Journey into the time of MAHARAJAS” reflects an unmistakable aura of majesty of princely India, effortlessly and eloquently captured in captivating images. The complete range of the portrait photographs from the exhibition will travel across the Tasveer galleries in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and Ahmedabad. “A Journey into the time of MAHARAJAS” exhibition will be complemented in Delhi and Mumbai with a captivating display of two extraordinary Vacheron Constantin timepieces dating back to 1909 and 1916, which have been a part of the collection of the Sovereign of Punjab, Sir Bhupindra Singh, Maharajah of Patiala. Presented for the first time in India, the two historic watches are a part of the “Treasures of Vacheron Constantin” housed in its Heritage Department in Geneva. These two outstanding pieces demonstrate Vacheron Constantin’s age long tradition of combining fine & decorative art with premium collectors' items. The watches on display include a perpetual calendar and moon phases pocket watch, with alarm and chronograph with minute counter; and a wrist watch bracelet, featuring an open worked and engraved case, embellished with bead-set diamonds and millegrain decoration.The watches beautifully illustrate the relationship and bond that Vacheron Constantin has enjoyed with India since the days of the Maharajas. - Delhi: September 25 – October 3, 2011 Photo-captions: |
