Overseas collection international launch celebrations in New York and Tokyo

In the company of clients, VIP, members of the international and local press from Europe the United States, Asia Pacific and Japan, the Manufacture celebrated the international launch of its Overseas collection, the embodiment of the spirit of travel characterising Vacheron Constantin. Through two extraordinary events, held on the High Line in New York and at Terrada Souko on Tokyo Bay’s Tennozu Isle, guests enjoyed an immersive experience in the Overseas world, inspiring them to “adopt a unique perspective on the world”.

The Overseas collection and in particular the World Time model were unveiled on May 25th 2016 on New York city’s High Line, a historic elevated freight rail line that used to carry goods to and from Manhattan; and on June 16th 2016 at Terrada Souko, on Tokyo Bay’s Tennozu Isle. At these two exceptional events, guests were able to admire the Overseas Tour photography exhibition stemming from Vacheron Constantin’s partnership with legendary photographer Steve McCurry. The artist himself was present for these presentations of spectacular images from the first six destinations of his journey (Japan, China, New York, Mexico, India and the Manufacture Vacheron Constantin in Geneva).

Guests were among the privileged few to preview the new Overseas World Time watches and to test the new system of interchangeable straps/bracelets. They also had a chance to enjoy the fascinating experience of total immersion into the Overseas travel/Tour world via virtual reality headsets.

Each of the evenings featured its own highlights. In New York, Grammy award-binning band A Great Big World gave a special performance against breathtaking views of the Hudson River. In Tokyo, the renowned and well-travelled Chef Yamada created a singular culinary experience through dishes reflecting the cultural depth of Japanese cuisine. During the Japanese event, the highly original METAFIVE supergroup featuring the biggest names on the Japanese electronic music scene set the night on fire.

The launches also featured the unveiling of the last six Overseas World Tour destinations. It is in Morocco, Scotland, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan, France and Russia that Steve McCurry has captured the soul of little-known and sometimes inaccessible sites that chime with the fundamental values of Vacheron Constantin. Photos of these last six locations will be unveiled in September 2016.
