ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne
Thanks to Vacheron Constantin’s support, ECAL/University of Art and Design Lausanne has revamped the former Master of Advanced Studies in Luxury Industry and Design which is now the Master of Advanced Studies in Design for Luxury & Craftsmanship. Through this new formula, the programme intends to highlight various types of expertise and to offer young industrial designers an opportunity to spend a year investigating sectors of excellence as diverse as Artistic Crafts, Fine Watchmaking, tableware or specific techniques using noble materials. In 2015, the exhibition titled “Arts & Crafts & Design : Time according to ECAL and Swiss Craftsmen” crafted in partnership with the ECAL and the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte was presented at the Swiss pavilion throughout Expo Milan, the Universal Exhibition (World’s Fair) held in Milan.

Switzerland is a privileged country in terms of know-how in the field of luxury and craftsmanship. leveraging this tradition, this Master of Advanced Studies is intended for holders of a Bachelor’s or a Master’s degree. Through collaborations with prestigious companies, some of which are based on a centuries-old heritage, as well as workshops provided by major international designers, students experience all stages in the production of a product. They also enjoy the benefit of brand identity analyses and lectures delivered by experts in the field as well as factory tours of luxury goods manufacturers. Many projects are singled out by partner companies to be produced, exhibited and published in the international press.
