Looking after your watch
Embodying the very essence of horological excellence, Vacheron Constantin watches are remarkable timepieces endowed with exceptional precision and reliability.
In order to ensure they continue running as smoothly as the day they were purchased, Vacheron Constantin watches require regular maintenance that guarantees their legendary quality and longevity.
Therefore, in order to provide them with the meticulous care they deserve, Vacheron Constantin offers its customers an exclusive service combining stringent dedicated checks with scrupulous attention to the details of the movement, which are systematically verified.
When and how to wind up your watch
The energy produced by the wearer’s movements is transmitted to the barrel spring via the oscillating weight. This energy is then distributed throughout the movement to drive the hands and other functions.
A regular full servicing
We recommend wearing your watch daily, since it is kept running by the natural movements of the wrist.
If the watch has stopped and in order to restart it under the best possible conditions, it is advisable to make about 20 turns of the winding-crown.
If your watch is not frequently worn, we recommend using a winding-box suitable for your model, in order to keep it in permanent operation. You will thus avoid having to adjust the watch functions too often.
In order to ensure the smooth running of your mechanical hand-wound movement, and to maintain its accuracy, it is advisable to have a complete maintenance-service performed every 4 to 5 years by an Authorized Vacheron Constantin Repair Centre. If your watch is a model with complications, we recommend you have a complete maintenance-service done every 3 to 4 years.
We strongly advise an annual check of all the seals on your watch in order to maintain its original level of water resistance.
Your watch should also be used in accordance with its specific water-resistance characteristics.
To protect the movement from humidity, be careful to ensure that the crown is always pushed back in or screwed back flush with the case, particularly after setting the time or adjusting functions.
If water were to seep inside the case accidentally, or if you were to see any trace of damp, please take your watch to the nearest Authorized Vacheron Constantin Repair Centre. After any contact with seawater, it is advisable to rinse your watch in fresh water (for water-resistant watches) and to dry it with a non-abrasive cloth.
Maintaining your leather strap
The strap/bracelet also deserves your full attention. Leather is a living, delicate and sensitive material that must be regularly maintained. We draw your attention to the fact that humidity and skin products may accelerate aging.
Read carefully the instructions for your watch
The operating instructions for this watch, that we strongly advise you to read with the utmost care, will provide you with all the information you need to use your watch and its strap or bracelet in the best possible conditions. If you have any doubts or questions, feel free to contact your nearest Vacheron Constantin retailer.
