Lisbon. May 19th. Vacheron Constantin has sponsored the launching of Fernando Correia de Oliveira's latest book, "Manuscrito Anónimo de Relojoaria na Academia das Ciências de Lisboa" (Anonymous Manuscript on Watchmaking from Lisbon's Science Academy). It's a transcription and a dissertation of an anonymous manuscript of the XIX century. It describes the invention to improve the behavior of navy's chronographs inside the ships.
The launching took place this past May 19th in the Science Academy in Lisbon and was headed by the academy's president. Around 100 guests attended, among them several journalists and members of the academy.
Fernando Correia de Oliveira (Lisboa, 1954), jounalist and researcher. He has spent the last deacade researching in Portugal and overseas about the subject "Time, Watchmaking and Mentalities". He has published História do Tempo em Portugal (November 2003) and Cronologia do Tempo em Portugal (November 2004).
