2005 - Juan-Carlos Torres succeed to Claude-Daniel ProellochsMr Claude-Daniel Proellochs, Chief Executive of Vacheron Constantin is to retire. Paying tribute to Mr Proellochs, Richemont Group CEO, Norbert Platt, said: "For the last 17 years, Claude-Daniel has steered Vacheron Constantin to a pre-eminent position in the Haute Horlogerie market. This has been borne out by the success enjoyed by the brand during this, its 250th anniversary year. We thank him for his dedication and the immense contribution he has made to the development of Vacheron Constantin. He has been a passionate advocate for the Maison and, most importantly, has protected and enhanced the proud Vacheron Constantin heritage." Mr. Proellochs' post is now occupied since October 1st by Mr. Juan-Carlos Torres, who previously served as Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Born in Barcelona and having settled in Switzerland in 1960, Juan-Carlos carries both nationalities. Married and a father of two children, his main fields of interest are classical music and cinema. His favourite sports activities include skiing and motor-racing. Juan-Carlos Torres has been working for Vacheron Constantin since 1981, when he began his career in the accounts department before taking on various responsibilities and being appointed Financial Director in 1987. In 1996, he guided the process of integrating Vacheron Constantin within the Richemont Group, the new brand owners. This contribution has enabled the brand to benefit from Richemont's international distribution network. He was also closely associated with the acquisition and development of HDG (Le Sentier/Vallée de Joux) within Vacheron Constantin as of 1998. The entire manufacturing and watchmaking sector was entrusted to him in 2000, a longside his previous responsibilities. Two years later, he was appointed Deputy Chief Executive Officer, a position that led him to supervise the redeployment of the company's real estate assets, including piloting construction of the new Manufacture in Plan-les-Ouates, operational since August 2004, as well as the complete renovation of the Maison Vacheron Constantin located on the Quai de L'Ile.
