2005 - The 250th anniversary evening in the heart of GenevaThe year 2005 edition of the Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie bore the unmistakable imprint of the Maltese cross. The emblem of Vacheron Constantin, which is celebrating its 250th anniversary, set the tone for the event right from Sunday April 3rd: That evening, the world's oldest Manufacture in uninterrupted operation since its founding in 1755 had invited friends from around the world. Through an initiatory journey that led them from the Maison Vacheron Constantin to the dinner location, the six hundred guests - made up of retailers, journalists and collectors - enjoyed an intense experience during this gala evening. It was honoured by a speech given by the Swiss Minister of Finance, Mr. Joseph Deiss, as well as the presence of numerous personalities including Mr. Carlo Lamprecht, Geneva State Councillor for Economic Affairs, Employment and External Affairs and the Mayor of the City of Geneva, Pierre Muller. There were also many representatives from international political, economic, diplomatic and cultural circles who had made a point of attending. The dinner was held at the heart of Geneva in the historical St. Gervais district, and was enlivened by numerous musical and artistic performances introduced by Eve Ruggieri and featuring artists such as the Cirque Eloize, Elizabeth Vidal and Sarah Nemtanis. As a grand finale, the pianist Paloma Manfugas created tremendous enthusiasm within the audience by playing three Argentine dances by Alberto Ginestera. Actors Pierre Arditi and Marisa Berenson read a magical text dedicated to the impalpable nature of Time. During the dinner, guests enjoyed a chance to discover the exceptional creations presented by Vacheron Constantin to mark its quarter of a millennium of existence.
