For the first time, Vacheron Constantin presented its watchmaking arts and skills on the west coast of the United States, in Los Angeles between February 27th and March 1st. At Sotheby’s, in the heart of Beverly Hills, its craftsmen and women – an enameller, engine-turner, engraver and watchmaker – demonstrated their artistic talents and technical expertise. During these four days of intense activity, they shared their passion with a public who were given the unusual opportunity of trying their hand at the various crafts. The workbenches were surrounded by an exhibition area featuring an important collection of watches and tools from Vacheron Constantin’s heritage. 

 

Just stone’s throw away, in the royal suite of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel, was an exhibition of fours masks from the Barbier-Mueller collection, the largest primitive arts collection in the world. These masks were the inspiration behind the Métiers d’Art Masks Collection of watches, which were also on display with mirrors in which the original masks were reflected.

 

During the dinners organized each evening, Julien Tornare, President of Vacheron Constantin North America, Christian Selmoni, Product Marketing Director and Julien Marchenoir, Marketing-Communications Director, gave conferences on Vacheron Constantin’s long experience in the arts of watchmaking. Gabriel Barbier-Mueller and Laurence Mattet, representing the Barbier-Mueller family and museum respectively, joined in to help bring to life the magic of the masks that was present throughout these gatherings.
